About Me
My name is Madi, I have been caring for animals for more than 15 years. I launched this business out of my passion for spending time with pets and my desire to offer exceptional care for them. I started horse riding when I was about 5 years old and instantly fell in love, when I got a bit older I started to loan a few different horses but always wanted to have my own. So for the past 6 years I've owed horses and love every moment with them. I have a cute pony named Arlo and an adorable Shetland pony called Oreo. Additionally, I have two lovebirds, Kiwi and Kira.
Throughout the years, I've looked after a variety of animals, including cats, horses, dogs, chickens, birds, mice, guinea pigs, ducks and fish.

I've always wanted to help animals especially horses as I can see how kind and gentle they can be. Many years back I got given a pony called Penny, she was in her 30s and came with the field I'd just been given, and had been left in that field for most of her life, basically wild. She couldn't be caught and seemed wary of people. She enjoyed my company but from a distance, I decided to start building her trust as I wanted to do health checks on her. Eventually I could groom, bathe and feed her by hand but still didn't like being caught. When she trusted me enough I managed to catch her, even from out in the field. From then on I could take her on walks which she enjoyed and would even come when I called her. She defiantly still liked her freedom which I respected, she trusted me and I like to think I made her last couple of years happier.
When I went to view Oreo to buy he seemed so sweet but when I brought him home I noticed a few things. He wouldn't let me touch his ears, legs or belly and would run away in the field, he always seemed on edge when people were around. I knew he had been miss treated in the past and I had to help him. He showed no signs of aggression just pure fear. He'd learnt that if he could be caught that being in a stable or field he would be subjected to harm. So I had to teach him that not all humans are bad, which took time and little steps. Even after all the work I've done with him, he can still turn away from me in the field for a few seconds then realises who I am and comes towards me. We've done lots together since I've had him, been on walks, took him to a few shows, jumped him on a lunge (he's a great little jumper).

It's crucial to understand your horse's limits and not push them to do things solely for your own desires. I know Oreo's limits, he'll never be ridden, as that's not what he enjoys. He prefers spending most of his time in the field, with occasional walks and grooming which I completely understand.
